Klondyke is ill. It is amazing how a furry critter can find its way into a heart. They just want a few walks, some scratches, and a place to be safe. We provided those things with love. He belonged (s?) to our daughter but we borrowed him two years ago and he just settled in. He fits here, too. He has been slowly slowing down on the walks and shortening them himself, not feeling like eating to the point of losing about twelve pounds over the last few months (four this last week!), and looking at us with a kind of defeated and pained look in his eyes. Like "why is this happening to me or what is happening to me?"

Bob took him in last week and he was put on antibiotics. They really didn't help and he often refused to take the pill - in whatever we tried to hide it in. So today I took him back to the vet. X-rays were taken speckles were visible in his lungs and the vet doesn't know what it is....a viral, bacterial or fungal infection??? Then they did a transtracheal wash, a fungal serology profile, etc....the terms one learns in a hurry, hmm? By the way, this comes at a monetary cost, too, along with the emotional one of knowing you have an eleven year old larger dog who is aging ......so we wait for test results.
